Optimization of the vitamin C supply through targeted infusions

In principle, we humans are the only living beings in which a vitamin C deficiency occurs relatively frequently because the vitamin C content of our current diet is often insufficient.

However, a sufficient supply of vitamin C is a prerequisite for many metabolic processes. For example, the vitamin is involved in metabolic processes of the hormonal and nervous system and in the regulation of fat metabolism. It helps to form and maintain the function of bones and connective tissue. The vitamin is also very important in the body’s own defenses. Immune cells need a lot of vitamin C for their defense activity. Vitamin C also acts as a radical scavenger. This means that it catches cell-damaging or disease-promoting free radicals and thus protects the body’s cells. The need for vitamin C can be increased in the case of inflammatory diseases and after serious injuries. Smokers, competitive athletes and other people who are frequently exposed to physical or psychological stress situations also need more vitamin C.

In vitamin C infusion therapy, an infusion solution with high-dose vitamin C is administered into the patient’s bloodstream via a vein (vitamin C high-dose infusion). In contrast to tablets or powders, which can only supply the body with a limited amount of vitamin C via the gastrointestinal tract, intravenous administration achieves significantly higher active levels in the blood (plasma levels).

Components

As with any infusion treatment, mild side effects such as redness or swelling at the point of injection may occur. Systemic side effects are rare, but may include: Headache, dizziness or nausea. You should always consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

Vitamin C has a preventive effect as an effective free radical scavenger in a variety of diseases such as arteriosclerosis, rheumatism, cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

The duration of an infusion is usually between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the amount of solution administered and the individual reaction of the patient.

Yes, allergy infusion can be used in addition to other allergy therapies. However, it is important to discuss all current treatments and medications with your doctor to avoid possible interactions.

Some patients report rapid relief of their symptoms, while others need several sessions to notice a difference. Success depends largely on the severity of the underlying condition.

Allergy infusion is generally a very well-tolerated therapy, which can also be given in combination with anti-allergic medication. It is often possible to reduce the dose and number of additional medications taken. The histamine content in the tissue is reduced and the breakdown in the body is improved.

Vitamin C can be administered in significantly higher doses if it is given as an infusion. Oral vitamin C can only be absorbed via the intestine to a limited extent and must be taken much more frequently. Additionally administered magnesium can also be better tolerated as an infusion than oral administration, which can lead to more frequent diarrhea.
