Alpha lipoic acid
Alpha lipoic acid is a very important antioxidant in the body. It can protect the more aqueous cell areas, blood and the extracellular space as well as the fat-containing cell components (e.g. cell walls, membranes), lipoproteins in the blood or the fat-containing nerve sheaths against oxidation.
Lipoic acid has a unique ability to regenerate itself and the important antioxidants vitamins C and E, glutathione and coenzyme Q10; i.e. it restores the full antioxidant power of these protective substances.
Glutathione detoxifies the body and is considered by vitamin researchers to be a “key antioxidant”. Low glutathione levels are observed in brain damage and numerous chronic diseases.
Lipoic acid regenerates glutathione and increases its level in the blood. As lipoic acid is the only antioxidant that easily enters the brain, it can neutralise nitrogen radicals, which are particularly dangerous for brain cells.
Lipoic acid has been proven to have a beneficial influence on mental performance and memory, as well as for the prevention and treatment of strokes. Lipoic acid “repairs and revitalises spent circuits in aged brain cells”.
Areas of application
As an infusion, the most important effects of alpha lipoic acid and glutathione infusions are:
- Improvement of mental performance and memory
- Repairing damaged nerves
- Improved metabolism of sugars
- Detoxification of the entire body
- Elimination of heavy metals
- Protection against oxidative and nitrosative stress
- Regeneration of antioxidants
- Building up energy reserves
- Activation of the immune system
